dc.description.abstractThe study aims to find out perception of pre-service teachers and students on benefits of explicitly stating objectives. The research was conducted among 30 student-teachers who had their practicum at Hanoi College of Education, together with all 118 students who were taught by them. With the employment of both quantitative and qualitative, the research found out the opinions of participants on this issue. The key finding in this research was that four greatest benefits as perceived by both pre-service teachers and students were motivate students, understand the purposes of the lesson, focus on what needs to be learnt and set priorities, increase their chance of success. Besides, it was also significant to pre-service teachers because it helps them to recall of the direction to go and guide the selection of appropriate activities. With the findings carefully presented and discussed, this research can serve as a good reference for not only pre-service teachers but also for those who are interested in this issue.vi
