This study is an attempt to investigate the extent of the use of code-mixing between English and Vietnamese in a magazine for youth in Vietnam. The method adopted to analyze the collected data was a combination of quantitative and qualitative research. The use of English-Vietnamese code-mixing appears in every article of the magazine. However, that use seems to be reasonable in terms of the magazine’s main aims. Both sociopragmatic and psycholinguistic factors seems to be the motivation of that use. Proper nouns are the most commonly used types of English code mixing items and the column Education – Studying Abroad has the largest number of English-Vietnamese code mixing items. Based on these findings, implications were made for anyone who concerns about language study and language teaching. The use of English code mixing in the online magazine Sinh Vien Viet Nam is apparently the result of globalization which is the international combination of cultures, social movements, financial markets and common language. Moreover, the use of English in this magazine is an evidence of English penetration into Vietnamese language. It reclaims the role of English language as an international languagevi
