Abstract:	M. A. K. Haliday's Systemic Functional Grammar theory of madality is used to investigate the realization of modalization by using modal adjunct in five English commencement addresses. Modalization is realized through ten categories of modal adjuncts. Among them, usuality, and time adjuncts are amployed most frequently in the chosen speeches.
