Abstract

Recently, Korea has emerged as an important economic partner in the world and in Vietnam, therefore demand for learning Korean language have steadily increased. As a Director of Korean Study Center in Foreign Trade University in Hanoi, the author provides the most updated information about the condition of Korean language training in Vietnam, such as: Korean teaching and study centers, types of Korean language teaching, quantity and quality of lecturers and students in Korean subject, materials and curriculums of Korean language teaching.

Based on these information, the author give a some recommendations on teaching Korean in Vietnam, for instance: expanding Korean teaching to meet society‟s needs, enlisting the help of KOICA and prestigious universities in Korea to complete the curriculums for teaching Korean for Vietnamese, adding some thematic topics like Korean for tourism, Korean for economics, or Korean for technicians, etc. in the undergraduate curriculum of Korean, diversifying types of teaching to meet the needs of the society, and focusing in improvement the quality of lecturers to ensure a sustainable development of Korean subject in Vietnam.
