With the aim of discovering how Hanoi high school students master three degrees of comparison of adjectives and which the most problematic degree to them is, the study was conducted. To achieve these aims, the survey was carried out among students studying at different high schools in Hanoi. The results of three-task written tests completed by 142 students revealed that generally the students could distinguish and construct different degrees quite well, and that of the three degrees, absolute degree is the most difficult for Hanoi high school students to use, followed by superlative and comparative is the least difficult degree. From the findings, several pedagogical implications concerning the teaching of comparison of adjectives to Hanoi high school students are raised to help teachers and students.vi
